A planche is a skill in gymnastics and callisthenics in which the body is held parallel to the ground while being supported above the floor by straight arms. Being able to keep your body in a horizontal posture while balancing your entire body weight on your hands is quite a challenging move – requiring strength and great balance.
Since the planche is a challenging move, athletes train for it by learning the simpler moves to progress – usually in the following order: the frog stand, advanced frog stand, tuck planche, advanced tuck planche, straddle planche, and then full planche.
