Cardio is known to be one of the most efficient ways to lose fat, but what is the correct way to maximize your efforts when you are doing cardio exercises? How do you ensure that your efforts spent on cardio would help keep your muscles instead of losing muscle along with fat? A science-based approach can help nudge you in the right direction and clear up some misconceptions about cardio.
For example, cardio is not necessary for fat loss if you’re consistently eating at a calorie deficit but cardio does help speed things up and makes it easier to reach your goals. However, HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) in particular is a good cardio workout that can help prevent muscle loss. Unfortunately, HIIT is very demanding on the body so you can combine your HIIT workouts with LISS (Low-Intensity Steady State) cardio workouts to maintain your fat loss progress. Or, you could alternate between the two if needed – you will need to find a good balance for the needs of your body.
Watch the video below to see the tips and tricks on how to find the perfect combination to maximize efficiency for your fat loss journey.
